A Brief History of Aigle
Aigle was established in 1853 in Montargis, France, by the American businessman Hiram Hutchinson. The company began by making rubber wellington boots and raincoats, using the vulcanisation process that had been developed by Charles Goodyear. That rubber heritage is still central to the brand today.
Over the years Aigle has grown into a full outdoor brand making footwear, rainwear, clothing and accessories, but wellies remain its best-known product.
