The Deer-Tex® Performance Shell membrane is laminated to the back of the outer fabric and taped at every seam, making these trousers 100% waterproof. It is light, so it is used in Deerhunter's more technical products. Because the membrane is windproof, it also helps keep you warm when sitting still in a strong breeze. The water column rating shows how much water pressure the fabric resists (5,000 mm), while the breathability rating shows how much water vapour can escape through one square metre in 24 hours (5,000 g), so you stay drier from the inside too.
