A Brief History of Ben Sherman
Ben Sherman was founded in Brighton, England, in 1963 by Arthur Benjamin Sugarman. He started a shirt factory after noticing how keen London's mod scene was on imported American button-down Oxford shirts. The brand opened a London showroom in 1965 and its first shop on Brighton's Duke Street in 1967. It became closely linked with 1960s mod culture and has stayed a British style name ever since, with a flagship on Savile Row from 2009 and Team GB outfits for the Tokyo and Paris Olympics.
Shirts made the name, but Ben Sherman footwear takes the same smart-casual approach: classic British shapes, clean lines and styles that work with jeans, chinos or a shirt and jacket.

Which Ben Sherman Style Should I Choose?
For an everyday boot that goes with almost anything, a chukka (also called a desert boot) is the easy choice: it is smart enough for the office and relaxed enough for the weekend. Suede looks softer and more casual, while waxy leather is easier to wipe clean. If you prefer a slip-on, the Chelsea boot gives the same smart look without laces. For something dressier, a leather brogue or derby works with chinos and a blazer. For relaxed days, trainers are the comfortable option. If you are weighing up boot styles, our dealer boots guide explains how Chelsea and dealer boots differ.
Looking After Ben Sherman Boots and Shoes
Brush off dirt after wearing, use a suede brush and protector spray on suede, and polish smooth leather regularly. Let wet footwear dry naturally, away from direct heat, and use shoe trees to keep the shape.
